This article is not to bash on samsung, this article is a review on the recent update from samsung, Samsung has the ability to fix these problems easily, but as of now the problem still persists and hopefully this problem will be fixed in a near future update.
In the recent release of the 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Update by google, everyone was excited to get it on their mobile device. While all nexus devices were the first to receive it, Samsung’s major flagship device had to wait it out. Many delays later, Jelly Bean was pushed out to all Samsung Galaxy s3 devices under Canadian and US carriers. This meant that the device would have no lag, no stutters, 60fps on native screens and a beautiful camera application.
Let’s list out all the lagginess in the Jelly Bean update.
-The pinch to see home screens is very laggy after you clear the ram, this problem still exists if you wait awhile after clearing the ram. ( In ICS GS3 it had no problem with showing all the homescreens, there was no jittering or lags when pinching the home screen)
-The lag in the widget drawer when trying to pinch it.
-The lag in the App Drawer when trying to pinch it.
-The lag when typing with the samsung stock keyboard.(Swype works perfectly fine, except for typing certain words that the dictionary does not recognize)
-The lag when pressing home button (however this problem is easily fixable by disabling s-voice).
After all the Lagginess what else is there that the jelly bean update have ruined for the GS3?
-Autocorrect does not work anymore. It use to replace or finish the words that I am typing before I even finish typing the words. But now when I type, the autocorrect feature does not try to change what I am typing, rather it just keeps giving suggestions in the word box below. [This is a very annoying problem for people who love to text frequently]
-Random glitchiness. I am not too sure if anyone else has this problem but sometimes when using the Galaxy s3 there are random glitchiness in the image, such as static or even distortion on the current screen I look at. Although it does not happen frequently, it still kinda gives a poor impression on such a high-end Device.
Okay so there are a few notches here and there that makes it a poor update, but i’m sure there are a few things that make the update a great one!
-Here are a list of things that i love about the new Jelly Bean update!
-Faster and smoother animations for opening apps to closing apps, opening drawers and closing them.
-Changing background of text messaging
-Text message reminder
-Smart Rotation (This feature gives is an amazing part of this update!)
-Info pull down from notifications
-New alarm interface
-Several new widget clocks
These are all amazing features of the new jelly bean update but the flaws in some of the transitions and animations give it a flawed impression of a high end device.
Ice Cream Sandwich was a Perfect, no lag software for Samsung Galaxy s3, Hopefully Samsung can make the next update just as smooth and can give even more innovations to the device as always.
Until Next time~
